Ken Bauer: Charlie Brown & Christmas on Piano
Join us for a concert by Ken Bauer, featuring his rearrangement of the piano music from A Charlie Brown Christmas, in the Visitors’ Center Auditorium on December 4th at 6:00 PM.
Ken Bauer started piano lessons at age 8 and found himself immersed in music throughout his life. He started playing in bands starting at age 12, learning pop songs by ear, taking organ lessons in his mid-teens, and later studying jazz and improvisation in his early 20s. Ken played keyboards in the band “Matrix” during the 80s, which was popular at all the youth and young adult dances in LDS churches in Southern California. Writing and arranging songs whenever time would permit has been a constant and has resulted in original choir music and songs played for local congregations. Over the last 10 years, Ken started putting piano improvisations of cover songs up on YouTube as a way of preserving music for his family and friends. The recordings have improved and now feature Ken’s 7-foot Kawai grand piano and more original music. Now retired, Ken is able to focus more time on music and is currently recording a solo piano album of all original songs, which should be available on all the streaming services by the end of the year.
Ken is excited to play at the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center and plans to feature Christmas arrangements inspired by Vince Guaraldi, famous for the soundtrack to the Charlie Brown Christmas movie.
All are welcome, and entrance and parking are free!
