Research Your Ancestry

The FamilySearch Center attracts visitors from all over the Bay Area who come to find information about their ancestors and family history. The Center offers free access to genealogical data for billions of deceased ancestors from around the globe.

Experienced research specialists provide a personal experience to help you discover your ancestors and grow your family tree.

Worship With Us

Everyone is welcome to attend our Christian services. Church is a time to focus on worshipping God and loving our neighbors.

You’re invited to gather with us to sing hymns, hear sermons, and learn more about the Savior, Jesus Christ. Worship services are available in 5+ languages.

Learn About Christ Through Art

Follow Christ’s life through paintings in the building, and interact with exciting exhibits.

Reflect on the majesty and wonder of God’s creations as you stand beneath the painted Milky Way. Ponder the invitation of the outstretched arms of Thorvaldsen’s Christus, a magnificent 11-foot statue of the Savior.

Explore the Gardens

The Temple Hill gardens are truly fascinating. The 18.1 acres are adorned all year long with 100,000 plants and 30,000 flowers of about 100 different varieties.

The gardens are intended to be a peaceful place for resting, pondering, and leisurely walks.

Experience the Calming Fountains

In the center of the gardens are two magnificent fountains and a man-made river that stretches the length of the grounds.

The reflection pool located in the courtyard, features a waterfall that cascades down from rooftop garden terrace.

Interactive Exhibits & Videos

Enjoy over 18 interactive exhibits that are fun and family friendly. Each exhibit helps families learn about God’s Plan, Prayer, and other uplifting experiences.

In addition to exhibits, there are 100+ videos for families to enjoy. Videos and interactive exhibits are available in multiple languages.

Gain Perspective

Temple Hill is considered by many to have the best view of the Bay, and by far the best place to watch the sunset. Enjoy the peace of the gardens, the flowing fountains and the great views of the Bay.

Capture the Moment

Stunning architecture, amazing views, beautiful gardens, and flowing fountains make Temple Hill a hot spot for photography. Photographers are welcome to use the grounds for photoshoots.

There is no entrance fee or photography fee. We ask that photographers and their groups follow guidelines for expected behavior.

Visitors’ Center

The Visitors’ Center features clean bathrooms, art, and exhibits. You will be greeted by our kind and helpful missionary tour guides.

Oakland Temple

The Oakland Temple is the pinnacle of Temple Hill. The principal purpose of the temple is to provide ordinances and blessings to members in the Oakland area.

Temple Hill Church Center

Everyone is welcome to attend our Christian services. Church is a refuge from the chaos of everyday life.

FamilySearch Center

Experienced research specialists provide a personal experience to help you discover your ancestors and grow your family tree. The library offers free access to genealogical data for billions of deceased ancestors from around the globe.

Rooftop Garden Terrace

The rooftop botanical gardens provide spectacular views of the Bay Area, including downtown Oakland, the Bay Bridge, Yerba Buena Island, downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Botanical Gardens & Fountains

You will feel peace as you stroll along the pathways to experience the smell of thousands of flowers and hear the running water from the stream flowing from fountain to fountain.

Temple Hill Auditorium

The auditorium is used for larger Church conferences and at times is made available for public events without charge. The large auditorium seats 1,600.

You can get Church materials and clothing at the Distribution Center.
