Oakland Temple Hill Sunset over San Francisco Bay

Station 1: A Temple is the House of the Lord

Throughout time, God has commanded His children to build temples. Each temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a house of the Lord. In the Lord’s house, Church members participate in sacred ceremonies, called ordinances, that bring them closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and prepare them to receive eternal blessings (ChurchOfJesusChrist.org).

Everything in the temple leads us to God, who is our Father in Heaven, and His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Savior of the world. In the temple, Church members learn more about the teachings of Jesus and how to follow His perfect example. Latter-day Saints believe that life’s greatest blessings are made possible only through Jesus Christ, who extends His love and grace to all people. His infinite Atonement and glorious Resurrection offer hope in a challenging world (ChurchOfJesusChrist.org).

“For behold, I have accepted this house, and my name shall be here and I will manifest myself to my people in mercy in this house” (D&C 110:7).
